THE BEST RUSSIAN CONTEMPORARY ARTIST

The list of the Best Russian contemporary artists (49ART-arteex) -  of authors not older than 1960 year of birth , was made by  ARTEEX   based on their creations  evaluation , popularity , commercial activity  (their titles, awards , participations in exhibitions and fairs , auctions , mention in art-ratings , presence of their works in museum collections  and so on  were taken into consideration). 

Some authors were included in the list of Best contemporary artists within the programme   Discovery (based on expert recommendations), which allows to open new talents to the art-society.  

ARTEEX does its best to be objective making the list, but anyway it reflects only subjective position of ARTEEX.

The maximum number of names in the List is – 250 authors (Top-250). Nowadays the list is being supplemented. The list is open. ARTEEX is   considering suggestions of including authors in the list of best contemporary artists.

Georgy Ostretsov included in the list of the Best Russian contemporary artists (ARTEEX). Georgy Ostretsov, born in 1967 in Moscow. He studied at a sham at the school at the Bolshoi Theater (Moscow). In 1984, he became a member of the Kindergarten group together with artists Georgy Litichevsky, Andrey Roiter, German Vinogradov and Nikolay Filatov, and in 1985 he joined the Leningrad association New Artists (Timur Novikov, Oleg Kotelnikov, Sergey Bugaev, Ivan Sotnikov and others). In 1988 he moved to France. He lived in Paris. He worked in fashion and advertising as an artist. Collaborated with Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and Jean-Paul Gaultier and participated in the work on the characters of the characters of Luc Besson's film “Taxi”. In 1998 he returned to Moscow. In 2009 he represented Russia at the 53rd Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art. In 2010 he organized the community of artists "VGLAZ", The works are in collections: State Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow; State Russian Museum, St. Petersburg; Moscow Museum of Modern Art of the Russian Academy of Arts, Moscow; Museum Arctic and Antarctic, St. Petersburg; Museum of Dreams Z. Freud, St. Petersburg; in private collections of Charles Saatchi, Simon de Pury, Lawrence Graff and etc.
